About This Site

(How it all began… and then some)

One of the things I enjoy most about photography is that it forces me to slow down and take a closer look at the things around us.  So often when I am taking a picture or viewing the finished product, God uses that moment to teach me or remind me of a scripture or promise. Photography has helped me to focus on Christ more and to notice God’s handiwork in everything from the smallest of flowers to the beauty of light shining through the stained glass windows in an old country church.

As a beginner and very amateur photographer; I use the term very loosely as I consider myself more of a photography hobbyist (if there is such a thing). I would occasionally share some of my pictures on social media, as a gift, or in a project for work. Looking for a way to share more of the thousands of photos I’ve snapped along with some of the lessons God’s taught me, The Focal Point was birthed. It was a way for me to combine my enjoyment of photography with my desire to help others see and know God more.

On this site you will find The Focal Point blog posts which are devotionals I’ve written that connect to various photographs I’ve taken. (My apologies now to the grammar police.) As God leads, additional posts will be added, with a personal goal to add a new one each week.  This site also includes a collection of some of my photos that I have taken over the last couple years and I look forward to adding more to the collection often.

Many times in life as in photography things get blurry.   I find myself loosing focus of what is most important.   While looking at life through the lens of scripture and a camera,  I have learned that the only thing that matters is knowing Christ.  When I focus on that, everything else begins to come into focus as well.  It is my prayer that those who visit this site will experience the joy that comes when Christ becomes the Focal Point in their lives.

Hebrews 12:2 "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”(NKJ)
